Disability Work (Special Education) Level 2 (CVQ)

Who is this qualification for?

This qualification is for individuals providing care, support, employment or education to persons with disabilities: for example:

  • Caregivers
  • Work supervisors/colleagues of persons with disabilities
  • Health Care Providers
  • Special Education Teachers

This list is not exhaustive and only serves to illustrate the breadth of the qualification.

How it is structured?

To be awarded this Caribbean Vocational Qualification (CVQ), candidates must successfully complete  all mandatory units. Elective units achieved will be awarded unit Statements of Competence.

What does it covers?

The mandatory units include:

  • Support people with disabilities at work and play
  • Care for the physical and nutritional needs of clients
  • Communicate appropriately with clients and colleagues
  • Provide services to people with disabilities
  • Promote and support the social and emotional development of clients
  • Detect and respond to signs of abuse in clients

The optional units cover:

  • Work with the deaf and persons with hearing disabilities
  • Work with persons with physical disabilities
  • Work with the blind and persons who are visually impaired
  • Work with persons with mental and psychological disorders
  • Promote cognitive skills development in children with disabilities
