Painting And Decorating Level 2 (CVQ)

Who is this qualification for?

This qualification is for individuals working in the painting and decorating trades in the building and construction industry. Individuals who would benefit from this qualification include:

  • Painters
  • Labourers
  • Construction Workers

This list is not exhaustive and only serves to illustrate the breadth of the qualification.

How it is structured?

To be awarded this Caribbean Vocational Qualification (CVQ), candidates must successfully complete all mandatory units. Elective units achieved will be awarded unit Statements of Competency.

What does it covers?

The mandatory units include:

  • Erect and dismantle restricted height scaffolding
  • Prepare for painting and decorating
  • Apply paint by spray
  • Apply paint by brush/roller
  • Prepare surfaces for painting and decorating

The optional units include:

  • Prepare for wall and floor tiling
  • Prepare for solid plastering
  • Prepare for dry wall plastering
  • Prepare for construction process (brick/block laying)
  • Apply solid render
  • Apply wallpaper
  • Apply decorative finishes
  • Apply texture coatings
  • Apply/install waterproofing and damp-proofing
  • Match specified paint colour
  • Apply industrial protective coatings
  • Apply waterproofing for wall and floor tiling
