Motor Vehicle Transmission Level 2 (CVQ)

Who is this qualification for?

This qualification is for individuals working in the automotive industry who wish to enhance their training in the general service and repair of motor vehicles, particularly transmission systems.

Individuals who would benefit from this qualification include:

  • Auto Mechanics
  • Automotive Service Technicians

This list is not exhaustive and only serves to illustrate the breadth of the qualification.

How it is structured?

To be awarded this Caribbean Vocational Qualification (CVQ), candidates must successfully complete all mandatory units. Elective units achieved will be awarded unit Statements of Competence.

What does it covers?

The mandatory units include:

  • Service engines and associated engine components
  • Prepare for manual/automatic transmission service/repair
  • Remove/refit/replace manual transmission and drive train system components/unit from vehicle
  • Service clutch, CV joints and final drive assemblies and or associated components

The optional units include:

  • Disassemble/assemble cylinder head and check tolerances
  • Disassemble/assemble engine block and sub-assemblies and evaluate components/checking tolerances
  • Remove service and replace steering and suspension system components
  • Perform routine inspection of brake system component/unit
  • Perform routine inspection and testing of faulty electrical system component/unit
  • Repair cooling systems and associated components
  • Inspect vehicle systems/components and determine preferred repair action
