Motor Vehicle Steering And Suspension Systems Level 2 (CVQ)

Who is this qualification for?

This qualification is for individuals working in the automotive industry who wish to enhance their knowledge of the general service and repair of motor vehicles, particularly steering and suspension systems. 

Individuals who would benefit from this qualification include:

  • Auto Mechanics
  • Automotive Service Technicians

This list is not exhaustive and only serves to illustrate the breadth of the qualification.

How it is structured?

To be awarded this Caribbean Vocational Qualification (CVQ), candidates must successfully complete all mandatory units Elective units achieved will be awarded unit Statements of Competence.

What does it covers?

The mandatory units include:

  • Service engines and associated engine components
  • Perform basic inspection of steering and suspension system
  • Remove, service and replace steering and suspension system components
  • Dismantle wheels and remove/repair/refit tyres/tubes
  • Service clutch, CV joints and final drive assemblies
  • Service disc/hydraulic braking systems
  • Repair, steering and suspension system components
  • Carry out wheel alignment operations

The optional units include:

  • Service cooling systems
  • Disassemble/assemble cylinder head and check tolerance
  • Disassemble/assemble engine block and sub-assemblies and evaluate components /check tolerances Remove/refit/replace manual transmission and drive train system components/unit from vehicle
  • Install, test and repair electrical circuit/lighting systems
  • Install, test and repair electrical security system /components
  • Service and repair electronically controlled anti-lock braking systems
