Food And Beverage – Bar Service (Bartending) Level 2 (CVQ)

Who is this qualification for?

This qualification is for individuals working in the hospitality industry who wish to update their food and beverage knowledge, particularly the preparation and service of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages: for example:

  • Bar Operators
  • Bar Tenders
  • Restaurant Wait Staff
  • Bus Persons

This list is not exhaustive and only serves to illustrate the breadth of the qualification.

How it is structured?

To be awarded this Caribbean Vocational Qualification (CVQ), candidates must successfully complete all mandatory units plus a minimum of one (1) Level One elective unit, two (2) Level Two  elective units and one (1) Level Three elective unit.

What does it covers?

The mandatory units include: 

  • Prepare and serve non-alcoholic beverages
  • Operate a bar
  • Receive and store stock
  • Carry out data entry and retrieval procedures
  • Provide responsible service of alcohol
  • Prepare and serving cocktails
  • Process cash and non-cash transactions
  • Provide specialist wine service 

The optional units include:

  • Clean and tidy bar areas
  • Provide table service of alcoholic beverages
  • Provide room service
  • Craft personal entrepreneurial strategy
  • Control and order stock
  • Dealing with conflict situations
