What are Occupational Standards?

National Occupational Standards of competence are detailed statements of what people are expected to able to do in their work role. They can be viewed as ideal benchmarks against which the actual performance of people in particular occupational roles can be measured or assessed. They are used in the design of competency-based qualifications and will form the basis of the National Vocational Qualification of Barbados (NVQB)
