Front Office workers perform a variety of services to guests and visitors. The quality of service that workers provide helps to determine repeat patronage, the profitability and overall success of the establishment.
Front Office workers register guests, assign rooms, and escort guests or visitors assisting them in transporting their luggage; introduce and explain room features and property facilities and services; respond to queries on recreational and entertainment attractions.
They monitor and control booking and confirmation of reservations in order to maximize revenue and room sales; prepare reports to inform housekeeping, maintenance, kitchen and dining departments on anticipated house count.
They open and maintain guest folio accurately posting charges on a daily basis; account for all monetary transactions relating to guest payments or reimbursements; make daily returns to accounts departments or as practiced by particular properties.
They operate communication systems in the property, including telephone, facsimile; receive and direct calls for guests and other workers, liaise with external agencies and establishments.
