Investing in Our Future: A National Policy Framework for TVET in Barbados - (June 2003)

INTRODUCTION

1.1 As in all other nations, the quality of life for Barbadians, their children and grandchildren, will depend on the ability of the workforce to compete successfully in the global marketplace.

1.2 The production and delivery of value-added goods and services requires a highly skilled workforce. To compete in today’s competitive economic environment, we must adapt to, and effectively use new technology and at the same time ensure that current skills and knowledge are passed on to the next generation. Our workforce will have to be one that is continually learning and adapting to change. This will require a substantial and ongoing investment in our human capital.
