The Hotel and Catering Training Company (HCTC) provided an excellent opportunity to look into the historic development and operation of the National Vocational Qualifications (NVQ’s) system currently in progress in the United Kingdom.

FINDINGS

1. In the mid 80’s, there was a major review of the area of Vocational Education and Training as the current system was deemed to be inflexible, inadequate and there were also varying standards and qualifications.

2.
