March 14, 2004
On
Friday, February 20, 2004, the Technical and Vocational Education and
Training (TVET) Council hosted a farewell luncheon at the Savannah Hotel
for outgoing council member Mr. Ed Bushell who has been appointed to
replace Ben Martinez as Barbados' Consul General in Miami.
Mr.
Bushell has served on the Council since 1998 as the representative of the
Barbados Employers Confederation (BEC), for which he is also a past
president.
The
Council and members of staff wished Mr. Bushell every success in his new
posting and presented him with a gift in appreciation of his years of
service.
Speaking following the presentation, Mr. Bushell expressed thanks and noted
that the TVET Council was going to have a very important role to play in
Barbados' future. Referring to the Occupational Standards and National
Vocational Qualifications (NVQ) Programme, he said that NVQs would help
people to know the capabilities of local workers, especially in comparison
to those from other countries.
